Isadora Duncan's essays on dance were collected and published the year after her death. Renowned author and critic Sheldon Cheney edited the essays. He opens with his eleven-page introductory essay which is followed by five Forewords in tribute to the great dance innovator, beginning with "Isadora's Last Dance" by her brother Raymond Duncan and "Isadora" by her sister-in-law Margherita Duncan.

The book is illustrated with full-page reproductions of black & white drawings and sketches by artists Leon Bakst (1), Antoine Bournelle (6), Jose Clara (3), Maurice Denis (2), Grandjouan (3), Fritz August Von Kaulbach (1), Van Deering Perrine (1), Auguste Rodin (4), Andre Dunoyer de Segonzac (1) and Abraham Walkowitz (2). There are also 6 black & white photographs, four by Edward Steichen (including the frontispiece, "Isadora Duncan at the Parthenon") and five by Arnold Genthe.
